Sec. 4, 50 Stat. 667, gave Commissioner the power to settle damage
claims up to $500. These duties and functions of Commissioner of
Lighthouses were taken over by Commandant of Coast Guard under
Reorg. Plan II of 1939, Sec. 2(a), eff. July 1, 1939, 4 F.R. 2731,
53 Stat. 1432, set out in the Appendix to Title 5, Government
Organization and Employees.
