No Commandant of the Coast Guard, superintendent of lighthouses,
lightkeeper, or other person in any manner connected with the light-
house service, shall be interested, either directly or indirectly,
in any contract for labor, materials, or supplies for the light-
house service, or in any patent, plan, or mode of construction or
illumination, or in any article of supply for the light-house
service.
